FSC® and Deanta

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an independent, not-for-profit, non-government international agency that promotes the use of harvested wood, which is wood gathered from well-managed forests.

The FSC® sets standards that reflect agreed-upon principles for responsible forestry management and certification bodies that certify the achievement of those standards by specific forests or woodlands. These certification bodies audit each company and their supply chains back to FSC certified sources. This chain of custody certification assures that consumers can trust the FSC trademark, which guarantees that such wood has been sourced in well managed forests.

The benefits of this certification include the following:

  • Forest owners are incentivised to follow best environmental practices
  • Biological diversity and its associated values, water resources, soils, and unique and fragile ecosystems and landscapes are maintained and conserved.
  • Forestry operations enhance the social and economic well being of forest workers and local communities.
  • The rights of indigenous peoples to own, use, and manage their lands, and resources are recognised and respected.

FSC® Steps

  1. Forests are certified according to FSC’s Principles and Criteria.
  2. Responsible management and harvesting practices are followed as trees are cut. A chain-of-custody paper trail is established.
  3. Harvested trees are transported to an FSC  certified mill, where logs are processed into FSC certified lumber
  4. FSC certified manufacturers use FSC certified raw materials to make wood products
  5. FSC certified products are transported to our Deanta Factory
  6. Consumers purchase products with the FSC  label. Restart the cycle

BEING SUSTAINABLE

We strive to operate our business in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. We work hard to ensure that our business operations have as little impact as possible on the environment and society. It is our mission to become a truly sustainable business where we have a net positive effect on the world around us. While there is always room for improvement, you can see our strategy to date below.

DEANTA’S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

WE WANT OUR BUSINESS TO HAVE A NET POSITIVE EFFECT ON THE WORLD AROUND US. HERE’S HOW WE DO IT.

We only ever source our wood from North American forests with sound environmental forest management schemes. Such schemes ensure the forest’s biodiversity, productivity, and ecological processes, as well as protecting the rights of local people.

We are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and all of our doors and packaging materials are made from 100% FSC certified material, reducing our carbon impact.

We are fully certified members of The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) which not only ensures the quality of our products, but also that our timber has been responsibly sourced from forests that meet standards of environmentally, socially and economically responsible management.

We manufacture our doors and, as such, can guarantee that all of our timber products are sourced from independently certified forests. We never rely on third-parties to source our wood ensuring that each and every door is made from responsibly sourced timber.
